Cloudways is excited to announce the integration of DigitalOcean’s new Australia-based data center into its platform.
Cloudways users located in Australia or serving that market can now choose the Sydney region when launching DigitalOcean servers. You can choose between Standard or Premium (Intel) NVMe DO servers.
Choosing these servers will help users minimize the distance between their applications and their Australian customers, serving better speeds and performance.
The great news is that we are now offering up to 16GB DO premium servers and up to 192GB standard ones in Australia. The new data center brings availability and capacity to the area, something we have struggled with in the past with other cloud providers such as VULTR.
With Cloudways being a home for more than 13k digital agencies globally and a total of over 80k web creators and small businesses, it was important to add DigitalOcean’s new data center to our existing lineup.
Australia has a budding market for web creators and entrepreneurs, with over 2 million SMBs and 10k registered advertising agencies. Bringing the most reliable and affordable cloud provider, Cloudways is helping SMBs access the power of the cloud and assisting digital agencies in serving their clients better.
What Does This Mean for Cloudways Customers?
More Options
Giving customers the freedom to choose is at the heart of what we do, and DO’s new Australian Data Center in Sydney provides just that! Many of our customers choose to host on Digital Ocean’s cloud because of its uptime, reliability, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. And now, with this new data center location, our customers will have another option in the area.
It is important to note here that choosing DigitalOcean’s new region in Sydney means your sites and data are safely stored in a data center that complies with The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and holds specific security certifications. (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and SOC)
Performance & Consolidating Hosting Services
DigitalOcean is known for its high-performance cloud services. And now, thanks to DigitalOcean’s Sydney data center, businesses will find it easier to deliver superior experiences to end customers in Australia.
Performance testing has revealed an average 6x reduction in round trip latency for customers using the Sydney data center services from key Australian cities, compared to DigitalOcean’s Singapore data center. [Source: DigitalOcean]
This also means that if businesses previously used other platforms or more expensive options to host customers in Australia, they can now consolidate their hosting services in one place: Cloudways.
Excellent Network Connectivity & Capacity
The latest data center in Australia is connected to DigitalOcean’s private internet edge and backbone network, providing users direct access to Asia, North America, and Europe via direct, diverse connections to California and Singapore.
And for this reason, users won’t experience the effects of jitter, latency, and packet loss usually associated with sending data over the public internet. Besides this, DigitalOcean has significantly increased SYD1’s capacity.
SYD1 provides 400 Gbps of connectivity to the internet backbone network and is connected to California and Singapore via the lowest latency links available today. Apart from global connectivity, we also focused heavily on SYD1’s domestic connectivity. SYD1 provides 400 Gbps of domestic connectivity to key local transit providers such as Telstra and Vocus and another 400 Gbps of connectivity to domestic internet peering exchanges such as EdgeIX. Probably, the Best Value for Money in the Area
Starting at $10/month, DigitalOcean servers provide the best value for the price in the market. Additionally, their hourly and monthly payment options let businesses scale and provide them flexibility in a budget. And as DigitalOcean keeps widening its network of global data centers, this news is particularly good for businesses with end customers in this region.

It’s only fair that we list all DigitalOcean’s data centers and their locations here. DO has 13 data centers (including Sydney) at key locations serving a big portion of users around the globe:
