Lakhani: Hi, Trung Nguyen. It’s lovely to have you with us! Could you please tell our readers a little bit about yourself? Walk us through your journey so far.
Trung: Hi, all of the Cloudways’ readers. I’m Trung Nguyen, CEO of BSS Commerce. It is my honor to be here today and take the interview with Cloudways, one of our trusted partners. BSS Commerce is a full-service ecommerce development agency that provides all-in-one solutions for B2B, B2C, and B2B2C worldwide.
After over 10 years, I’m proud that BSS Commerce has strived to serve more than 75,000 customers worldwide with 500+ successful projects. 100% I can’t go far this way without the support of our dedicated teams. I’m truly grateful to all of my colleagues. In July 2022, BSS Commerce is happy to have Magestore and SimiCart – two leading Magento POS, PWA & mobile app solution providers- join and strengthen our ecosystem.
Lakhani: Was there a particular reason why you chose to work with Magento over the other ecommerce platforms? What would you say is the importance of using Magento to you?
Trung: Well, I chose Magento to start my business because Magento is known as one of the top open-source ecommerce platforms with many incredible features. Moreover, BSS Commerce also develops Magento extensions to adapt to the difference in the business requirement that Magento default can’t solve. It was an important decision in spreading the reputation of BSS Commerce from Vietnam throughout the world. By offering the best Magento solutions, BSS can connect with clients globally with large budgets to invest in operating Magento.
Lakhani: You have been helping store owners with ecommerce store development. What’s your thought process before getting into any project?
Trung: At BSS Commerce, we know how important clients are to our business success. Lakhani: What are your thoughts on Hyva, PWA, and other related technologies? How are they going to benefit the merchants and the ecommerce industry?
Trung: Technology is constantly changing to adapt to the optimization problems of the e-commerce industry. From PWA to Hyva and many more future technologies, all are moving towards a “better ecommerce industry”.
Lakhani: What do you think about the Magento community? How important is it for the growth of the Magento platform?
Trung: Magento Community is one of the largest ecommerce platform communities in the world. Every platform can only endure for a short time with community support. It is the ideal place for Magento lovers to easily find any related answers to their problems by asking questions. BSS Commerce always tries our best to contribute and help the Magento community to grow more and more.
So far, we have 2 Magento maintainers (one from BSS Commerce and one from Magestore, 2 brands belonging to BSS). We also aim to increase the number of Magento maintainers in the near future. Community contribution will be a doping dose to help Magento maintain its position in the future.
Lakhani: Any suggestions to the newbies willing to make their career in Magento? Please also share a few advice that every Magento developer should follow.
Trung: We will fall behind if we don’t keep up with the most recent information because technology is always evolving. So my advice is to keep learning and keep moving forward. If you love ecommerce and have the patience to learn: Congratulations! Magento is a wise decision.
Lakhani: Where do you see Magento in the future? Any predictions for 2023?
Trung: It’s hard to envision Magento’s future when Adobe owns it. I believe that Magento is a reasonable choice for medium enterprises and above. Magento still has a large community, and good ideas like Hyva will still be the fulcrum to help Magento continue to be one of the world’s leading ecommerce platforms.
Lakhani: Hosting is really an important factor for the success of an ecommerce store. Would you prefer shared hosting for Magento stores or a managed cloud hosting environment like Cloudways for speed optimization?

Lakhani: What does your work-life balance look like? Are there any activities you enjoy in your spare hours? You may share any pictures of yourself that you like here!
Trung: As work is a part of my life, I don’t split my work-life balance in a way that keeps the two apart. I love going on picnics in mountainous regions in Vietnam; it feels so peaceful.
Lakhani: Can you please share a picture of your workplace? And any tips on making a productive workstation since many of us still work from home?
Trung: BSS Commerce now has 4 floors of workspaces in a building due to the scale-up swiftly in 2022 up to 300+ employees and experts. When BSSers work at the offices, we always want them to feel relaxed and at home.
